It was so great to hear Kim back on the podcast! Something I’ve been mulling over with the upcoming premiere is how the writers craft the major plot points in the show and ground them in reality. I listened to an interview with one of the writers and they said that a lot of the pivotal plot points are grounded in real events - the Season 1 vote of no confidence was based on something that happened at Disney when there was a vote of no confidence taken against Michael Eisner, the family therapy session is based on a real life therapy session between the Murdoch family, and I believe Kendall’s FBI take down is based on how Bernie Madoff’s sons testified against him leading to his arrest. So I’ve been wondering a lot about what real events could be the inspiration for what will happen in the fourth season. Related to the Kendall story line, one of Bernie Madoff’s sons did die by suicide a year after Bernie Madoff was arrested and I’ve been wondering if that could be something that happens in the fourth season.

Also, I know this has probably been talked about every where but I can’t get the comparison of the show to King Lear out of my head either. Brian Cox played King Lear, and with Logan’s health problems in the show it just feels super similar to King Lear going mad at the end. Particularly how in season 3 he was hallucinating when he had a UTI. And King Lear had three kids, there are three Roy kids. And (spoilers for King Lear) none of them make it out alive at the end.
